As an insurance company, our goal is not only to offer our clients reliable and financially stable solutions — as a responsible business, we also strive to ensure that our operations are sustainable. Our industry is likewise affected by the challenges of climate change, which is why we are committed to reducing our carbon footprint. In this spirit, we renewed our website in 2024, and we are pleased that the results of the web audit carried out by Carbon.Crane have confirmed that, thanks to this development, our site is now truly more optimized and environmentally conscious. At the same time, we aim to set an example of how an insurance company can operate along the lines of technological advancement and environmental responsibility.

The badge provided by Carbon.Crane displays the carbon emissions, energy consumption, and estimated water footprint of a given webpage or entire website, determined through an analysis conducted with its ISO 14067:2019-compliant measurement tool.
Based on the size of the website’s elements (text, images, video, code), we estimate the energy required for servers, data transmission, and user devices during rendering.
WUE (Water Usage Effectiveness) measures how many liters of water a data center consumes on average to supply 1 kWh of IT energy (e.g., for cooling).
The energy consumption of the website is multiplied by the industry average WUE value.
As of August 2025, the global average is ≈ 1,8 liter/kWh

Carbon footprint is determined by the carbon intensity of the country’s energy mix – i.e., how much CO₂e is emitted per kWh of electricity generated. Example of carbon intensity variations: electricitymaps.com.
An increasing number of services offer website carbon footprint measurement, yet their results often differ significantly, making it difficult to judge accuracy. Carbon.Crane’s MSZ EN ISO 14067:2019-compliant measurement tool was created to shift the focus from methodological inconsistencies and accuracy issues to optimizations that genuinely reduce emissions.
Carbon.Crane is a startup dedicated to measuring and reducing the digital carbon footprint. We believe that making digital infrastructure more efficient results in greener operations across carbon emissions, energy use, and water consumption alike. Faster websites also improve user experience and enable AI-friendly interfaces.
The five categories indicate different levels of emissions and consumption, similar to labeling used for electronic devices:
1,0 g CO2e + - excessive emissions; additional issues (slow loading, high energy use) are likely
0,8 - 1,0 g CO2e - emissions should be reduced; high probability of excess
0,6 - 0,8 g CO2e - emissions should be reviewed; strong potential for reduction
0,4-0,6 g CO2e - higher than desired but acceptable; reduction opportunities should be explored
0 - 0,4 g CO2e - low emissions; exemplary best practice
The timestamp on the badge indicates when the respective assessment - scan, audit, or monitoring - was conducted.
A Carbon Audit measures the full carbon emissions and energy demand of a website over a given period. The badge certifies successful completion of this assessment. In addition to CO₂e emissions, energy use, reduction potential, and recommended areas of focus become visible. The audit only requires anonymous web analytics data from the client. Results are delivered as a PDF report and a consultation.
Carbon Monitoring provides continuous measurement and supervision of a website’s carbon emissions and energy demand over time. The badge certifies its implementation. Monitoring includes constant observation, regular reporting of CO₂e data, and alerts for anomalies. We also provide tools to support carbon- and energy-efficient content creation for new pages. The process only requires anonymous web analytics data from the client. Results are delivered as a PDF report and a consultation.
A Carbon Scan acts as a carbon map, showing the per-page-load emissions of the pages belonging to a website. The badge certifies successful completion of this analysis. Alongside CO₂e emissions, energy use and reduction potential with suggested focus areas are displayed. The scan only requires the client to provide the website’s sitemap. Results are delivered as a PDF report and a consultation.
